You are engaged for a relatively short period of time and it is such a unique and beautiful season in your life together. I think it's really important to capture this time in your love story. It's a great excuse to get away from wedding planning, get dressed up, and snuggle for an hour or two. Plus, it helps to make your wedding day experience with me even better!
The more we know each other, the more relaxed you feel on on your wedding day. When we meet for your initial consultaion, correspond via email, chat on the phone, AND meet up for an engagement session, we feel more like friends, which translates to amazing photo opportunities. It means that I can blend in more when I need to and also direct you in a way that you respond to best. :)
An added bonus of an engagement session is that it helps us to capture more images in less time. After the engagement session, you know exactly what to expect during couple portraits so that on the day of your wedding, you have made my posing suggestions your own and they feel much more candid. Most couples that have done an engagement session, naturally fall into "poses" because they already have an idea of what I might ask them to do!
I love couple portraits that look and feel like you, engagement sessions help us accomplish just that. Once you feel comfortable with me and my lens AND I feel like an old friend, posing comes more naturally to both of us. I know if you like to be silly or if you are a little more reserved. I already know that you adore his sweet little dimple and that you love candid walking shots. All of these things that I learn about you at the engagement session make your wedding portraits that much better!
I love engagement sessions (and getting to know you!) so much, that I've recently decided to include a complimentary petite session for all of my couples. You can always choose to upgrade if you want more time, more outfits, or a location that is special to you but there is no pressure to do so. If you are a destination couple. hopefully we can meet up when you are in town visiting your wedding venue or relatives before the big day.
I promise that by the end of your engagment session you will have had fun together and we will know each other better. We might even have an inside joke or two! :)
Have questions about planning an engagement session? Email me! I'll also be doing a "tidbits for brides" post about it soon, so be sure to check back in!
