Another week, another trip down to Philadelphia for treatment. Friends, family and photographers have asked how I feel about sharing our story like this, if I think that it will impact Julia Jane Studios. I'll be honest, it's something I had to think long and hard about. But in the end, I decided, that welcoming people into my messy life, is better than shutting them out. Do you know what I found? My couples and their families have been some of the most supportive during this difficult journey. We have been showered with love from the Julia Jane Family.
I shot over 20 weddings and 10 engagement sessions last year while Lucy was undergoing chemotherapy. We were not prepared for the diagnosis last year (Lucy was diagnosed a little less than a month before wedding season), and I am proud to say I was still able to care for my daughter and give all of my couples the attention and caring I pride myself on. This year, I have all of systems in place and ducks in a row to do EVEN BETTER. This round of Lucy's treatment is also scheduled to be finished before my first wedding so the trips out of town will be a lot less frequent during busy season. All things considered, I think that sharing is the responsible thing to do. Telling her story might even help to save another baby's life. Spreading the word about retinoblastoma is now something I not only WANT to do, but NEED to do.
So now that I've gotten that off my chest, let's look at some pretty pictures and celebrate all of the beauty that every day moments have to offer.
Day 75: An afternoon at the beach was just what the doctor ordered for some smiles.
Day 76: Waiting for Lucy's treatment we couldn't help but be blown away by the beauty of the sunrise peeking through the buildings and darkeneded streets.
Day 77: We love seeing Lucy smile after treatment. The morning after, she enjoyed a little breakfast in bed, at the hotel.
Day 78: We celebrated a birthday and it SNOWED! Snow at the Shore is always beautiful!
Day 78: The Easter decorations started to come out at Gramby's house.
Day 78 Bonus: The day after a snowstorm is the PERFECT time for SLEDDING!
Day 79: A few posts back, I mentioned, I love tea tags and even keep my favorites in a little jar on my desk. Weird? Maybe, but I'm ok with that. Lipton surprised me this morning when I noticed they started putting fun things on their tags too! LOVE this one.
Day 80: A pretty little necklace that has the best positive reminder. I couldn't wait to put it on!
See you next week!
